Tickle Tech FAQs

Your questions, answered

Learn how the marketplace, scheduling, safety standards, pay, and onboarding work.

What exactly is a Tickle Tech?

A Tickle Tech provides The Tickle Bar's signature sensory wellness experience using incredibly light touch, gentle tracing, hair and scalp play, and other ASMR-inspired techniques designed to create tingles, shivers, goosebumps, and deep relaxation. This is a professional, non-sexual service focused on relaxation and sensory enjoyment.

Do I need a license?

No. Tickle Bar services do not involve muscle manipulation, deep pressure, or techniques that require licensed training. Some Tickle Techs may already work as estheticians, hairstylists, nail or lash techs, or other wellness and beauty professionals, but that experience is not required. We provide training in the techniques, standards, boundaries, and safety practices that shape a great Tickle Bar experience.

Do I need experience as a Tickle Tech?

No. Most people have never professionally tickled anyone before. We are looking for warm, reliable, professional people who are comfortable working one-on-one with clients and great at helping people feel relaxed and cared for. We'll teach you the rest.

Where do I see clients?

You choose. If you have an appropriate salon, studio, or professional space, you can receive Tickle Bar clients there. You may also choose to travel to clients for in-home appointments, which are priced at a higher rate. If you would like, you can offer both.

Do I need my own salon or studio?

No. Having your own appropriate space is one option, but it is not required if you choose to offer mobile appointments at clients' locations.

Do I choose my own schedule?

Absolutely. There is no minimum schedule. You decide which hours you would like to make available to Tickle Bar clients, whether that is an entire day, a few hours each week, or openings between your existing clients.

Can I keep my existing job or clients?

Yes. The Tickle Bar is designed to help you turn otherwise-unused time into additional income, not replace the work you are already doing. Simply make the hours you would like us to fill available to The Tickle Bar.

How does scheduling work?

Clients book through The Tickle Bar and choose their preferred date, time, appointment length, and whether they want to visit a Tech's location or request an in-home appointment. Our system matches those requests with eligible Tickle Techs who are available. Calendar syncing can help us know when you are available without seeing the private details of your other appointments.

How much can I earn?

Tickle Tech earning potential begins at approximately $75 per hour, depending on the service, plus 100% of your tips. Your earnings depend on the availability you choose to offer and the bookings available in your area.

How and when do I get paid?

The Tickle Bar handles client payment, so there is no invoicing, chasing payments, or awkward money conversation. Tickle Techs are paid every other Friday through Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal, whichever you prefer. 100% of client gratuities go to you.

Do I have to find my own clients?

No. We handle marketing, client booking, payment processing, the brand, training, and ongoing support. You concentrate on creating an amazing experience for your clients.

How does The Tickle Bar help keep Tickle Techs safe?

Your safety comes first. The Tickle Bar has clear Community Guidelines establishing that our services are professional and strictly non-sexual. Clients agree to expectations when they book. If something does not feel right before or during an appointment, contact us. If you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe, leave immediately and we will handle the client communication.

Are Tickle Techs certified?

Yes. Tickle Techs complete a brief video training on core Tickle Bar techniques, boundaries, and expectations as part of our internal onboarding path.

What if a client behaves inappropriately?

End the appointment and leave. The Tickle Bar is a professional, non-sexual service. You are never required to tolerate inappropriate comments, requests, touching, or behavior. Once you are somewhere safe, contact us and we will determine the appropriate next steps.

What happens if I do not feel comfortable accepting a particular appointment?

We want you to feel comfortable with the work you accept. If you have a concern about an appointment or client, contact us before the appointment so we can help. Your safety and comfort always take priority over completing a booking.

What training will I receive?

You will learn The Tickle Bar experience through a brief video series covering light-touch sensory techniques, pacing, boundaries, professionalism, safety, tools, and ASMR-inspired details. After you understand the standards and boundaries, your own style can shape the atmosphere through sound, lighting, tools, pacing, and setting.

What is the application process?

Complete your Tickle Tech profile, tell us about yourself, complete the video training, send a few short demonstration videos, complete required paperwork, and once approved, open your availability to start receiving bookings.

Do my demonstration videos need to be professional?

Not at all. Your phone is perfect. We are interested in your technique, pacing, professionalism, and creativity, not production quality. You can demonstrate on a willing friend or family member, and a mannequin can work for certain hair and scalp techniques.

Will clients see my videos?

Some Tickle Style clips may be included in your profile so prospective clients can get a sense of your techniques and personality before choosing a Tickle Tech. This helps clients find someone who feels like a good fit.

Do I need to buy special equipment?

No expensive equipment is required. Many wonderful sensory techniques require nothing more than your hands. Tickle Techs can also incorporate simple tools such as feathers, soft brushes, scalp tools, and other appropriate sensory items. We provide suggestions, but you can develop your own Tickle Style over time.

Can I create my own techniques?

Yes. Once you understand The Tickle Bar's standards, boundaries, and core techniques, we encourage you to develop your own Tickle Style. Different clients enjoy different sensations, and your creativity is part of what can make guests want to book you again.

Will I be an employee of The Tickle Bar?

Tickle Techs operate as independent professionals using The Tickle Bar marketplace rather than as traditional employees. You control when you are available and, within the options you select, where you provide services. The Tickle Bar provides the marketplace, marketing, booking and payment infrastructure, training, and support.

Is there a minimum number of hours I have to work?

No. Open one afternoon, ten hours a week, an occasional Saturday, or just the gaps in your existing schedule. It is entirely up to you.

What if I am available only at unusual or changing times?

That is completely fine. The Tickle Bar was designed for flexible schedules. You can make different hours available from week to week and open additional availability whenever your schedule changes.

How far in advance can clients book me?

Clients may be looking for an appointment the same day or planning weeks or months ahead. Opening future availability gives you more opportunities to be booked while still allowing you to control exactly which times you offer.

What if I have a problem with an appointment or client?

You are not on your own. Contact The Tickle Bar for scheduling issues, client concerns, safety issues, or anything unexpected. We are here to help so you do not have to manage every situation by yourself.

Why become a Tickle Tech?

Because empty hours do not earn you anything. The Tickle Bar helps independent professionals and people with flexible schedules turn available time into additional income without building another business from scratch. You choose when and where you work. We help bring the clients, handle bookings and payments, and support you along the way.
